Queen Esther Newark Theatre reviews
Good Concept, Flawed Execution
I bought tickets for my whole family because I really liked the idea of this. The band did a great job and the show itself was interesting. My main issue was how a movie that is just under an hour was stretched out into a 3+ hour ordeal. We have a 3 & 5 year old, and we knew it would be a bit of a stretch to have them out late on a Thursday. The start time was 7:30, but that started with a mini documentary into the making of the movie, introduction by the hostess for the night, and sing-along warm up. All in all, it was an interesting experience, but should have been planned 30 minutes earlier and should have had the mini-doc playing during the intermission. I get it, but my kids sat around bored for the first 20 minutes of this. The movie itself didn't start until after 8 and then was cut for a 15-20 minute intermission a little after 9.
